You are the Spine to your Business

One of the best business books I have read is Chillpreneur by Denise Duffield- Thomas and, it was a revelation.

Well actually no, it was more like a release, permission because deep down, I knew that I did not want to have a full-time business.

I do not want to be working the same way i did whilst in employment.

There was some guilt and thoughts of laziness in my desires to work less. It is one of the reasons that it has taken me so long to get things moving because i do not want to work this way.

My long terms goals include a relocation, creating new businesses and, helping others with theirs.

That cannot happen if I am working full time on my business.

Mindset, Self-Care and Self-Love, words that have been banded around and rinsed to bits but, their validity must not be lessened. It will be extremely difficult to maintain all these by dedicating 5 days a week to work.

Are you in a relationship?

Are you raising a family?

Do you have other people that you are responsible for? How on earth are you supposed to juggle all these aspects of your life with a business you are trying to grow?

We especially those identifying as women, have been sold a fallacy and I am angry as fuck about it.

You can have it all

Be anything you want

But you still have to manage everything else we have decided you should be doing as a woman.

Can’t do it?

Then you my dear are a failure.

The small print is truly hidden about the consequences of wanting it all if you do not identify as a man. The affects it can have on your health, relationships and your time.

And if you are trying to build your business alongside a full-time job? Good LAWD.

So what’s my point.

My point is that you are the spine to your business. Without you there is no business. You are the biggest asset and more often than not you are the last asset taken care of in the business.

The number one priority has to be looking after yourself. Rest has to be a part of your business strategy. Motivation, Willpower and Discipline cannot run on empty. They need time to be nourished, rested and inspired.

So yes, get your arse on the Self-care train and plan time for rest within your business.

Because if you don’t , your mind & body will force you to at a time when you really need to be working.

The Pandemic has shown us that how we work in the UK at least, is outdated, patriarchal and marginalises just about everyone who is not a white male.

How is running you business on your terms really going to be on your terms if you operate in systems that can harm your well being?

The messaging that if we are not working all hours of the day, we are not working hard enough is bull.shit and needs to get in the fucking bin.

Your Business, Your way. Periodt.
